Covid Policies for Summer 2022

A daily questionnaire confirming there are no symptoms or illness in the family will be required to enter camp.

The CDC currently lists Allegheny County as a “medium level” community. Following CDC recommendations for medium level communities, masking will be optional.

Covid vaccine: CGI's mission is to provide a Jewish day camp for every Jewish child in a safe environment. Upon consultation with our medical advisors, we strongly encourage every camper to be vaccinated.  At the same time, we understand that some parents are still hesitant to vaccinate their children while the vaccine is under emergency order and not mandated by the state.  We have therefore decided to allow for no more than 10% of our campers to be unvaccinated. Additionally, all unvaccinated campers be tested weekly for Covid.

Covid Policies for Summer 2021

Following current CDC recommendations, and with the guidance of our medical advisor, we will be implementing the following Covid practices and regulations:

a) A daily questionnaire confirming there are no symptoms or illness in the family will be required to enter camp.

b) Mask policy: All vaccinated staff are not required to wear masks. Campers who are not vaccinated will not be required to wear masks while outdoors. While the campers are indoors, they will be required to wear masks.

c) Our goal is to be outdoors as much as we can.

d) We will do our best to keep the bunks completely apart while indoors. Academies (which will be mixed bunks) will take place outdoors (weather permitting) and we will keep the children socially distanced.

d) Lunch and other activities that will involve multiple bunks will be outdoors.

e) Bussing: There will not be bussing to and from camp. Thanks to a generous grant from the Jewish Federation, we will be using 2 busses to go on trips, which will allow for ample spacing on the bus.

f) Lunches will be pre-packed and individually bagged for each camper.

g) Campers and staff will wash their hands or use hand sanitizer regularly.

As the situation continues to improve and the regulations relax, we will revisit the requirements with our medical advisor and update you of any changes.
